Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience

This activity is intended for neurologists, physiatrists, orthopedic surgeons, residents, fellows, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, and occupational therapists who manage patients with spasticity and movement disorders.

Program Overview

This activity provides an update on using ultrasound guidance to optimize procedural guidance for head and neck botulinum neurotoxin (BoNT) injection including ultrasound pattern recognition, scanning tips, and guidance techniques.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

Discuss ultrasound imaging techniques used to identify key muscles, nerves, glands, and bones in the head and neck region.
Identify the limitations and benefits of in-plane and out-of-plane techniques for ultrasound-guided BoNT injections of muscles and salivary glands in the head and neck region.
