Overview / Abstract:

TARGET AUDIENCE: This activity is intended for neurologists, physiatrists, orthopedic surgeons, residents, fellows, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, and occupational therapists who manage patients with spasticity and movement disorders.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW: This case activity offers insights on effective chemodenervation in spasticity/movement disorders, including toxin handling, patient evaluation, and injection demonstration.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
• Describe the clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with spasticity and/or movement disorders
• Identify the indications and unique dosing requirements of the current botulinum neurotoxins for the treatment of spasticity and/or movement disorders
• Recognize guidance techniques for the safe and effective injection of botulinum toxin in patients with spasticity and/or movement disorders
• Develop strategies for individualizing therapy and assisting patients with spasticity and/or movement disorders achieve their functional goals
