Overview / Abstract:

TARGET AUDIENCE:
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of pediatricians, primary care physicians, opthalmologists, optometrists, neurologists, gastroenterologists, geneticists, genetic counselors, neonatologists, and other healthcare professionals.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Vision change and cataracts are cardinal early presentations of cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis (CTX). This program will discuss disease recognition as well as diagnosis and treatment of CTX.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Assess disease mechanism and clinical presentations of CTX
- Discuss how to recognize CTX in those with bilateral cataracts
- Evaluate the diagnostic and therapeutic approach in CTX
