Hormone Sensitive Prostate Cancer " Therapeutic Approaches

Overview / Abstract:

TARGET AUDIENCE:
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of urologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and other health care professionals responsible for treatment decisions for patients with prostate cancer. Health-care professionals may be unfamiliar with the concept of patient-centered care models that provide optimal outcomes for patients with prostate cancer.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Module 1 covers a review of current recommendations based on NCCN guidelines for mHSPC therapy and the biological basis of targeted therapy with a survey of the genomic alternations leadign to therapeutic targets.
Module 2 outlines the therapeutic options, theranostics and treatment intensification of mHSPC with a focus on identifying patients at high risk and integrating therapeutic advances in the community setting.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
• Explain the complexity of the genomic alterations leading to targeted therapies in PCa
• Employ the NCCN Prostate Cancer Guidelines and standards of care for mHSPC therapy
• Discriminate among the options to provide treatment intensification and optimal therapy for de novo and mHSPC patients incorporating clinical trial data
• Evaluate high risk populations for PCa
• Assess how to integrate advances in oncology therapy for PCa into community practice for patient involvement in decision making
