Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience
This activity has been designed to address the educational needs of primary care providers (PCPs) (ie, internists, family practitioners, nurse practitioners, and PAs), endocrinologists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, and residents.

Program Overview
Patients with diabetes are at a greater risk for diabetic retinopathy than patients without diabetes, yet many are unaware of the importance of vision screening. Join Dr. Amy Zack as she discusses diabetic retinopathy and emphasizes the need for eye health in patients with diabetes, how best to support patients for optimal eye health via education and screening, and Dr. Steven Ferrucci helps explain diabetic eye exams.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

Devise care plans for patients with diabetes that incorporate eye care screening in alignment with current guideline recommendations
