Expert Illustrations & Commentaries™: Visualizing the Angiopoetin-Tie2 Pathway as a Target in Retinal and Choroidal Vascular Diseases

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience

This educational activity is directed towards comprehensive ophthalmologists, retinal specialists, optometrists, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with retinal diseases.

Program Overview

This Expert Illustrations and Commentaries™ is a video-based program in which 2 experts discuss the etiology and management of diabetic macular edema (DME) and neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). In this activity, the faculty focus on the pathophysiology and emerging therapeutic strategies for the management of DME and nAMD. Their discussion is enriched with the use of video animation to illustrate the mechanism of action of a new therapy. The use of these animated segments helps make somewhat complicated subject matter more easily understood. This unique format is designed to help clinicians identify best practices in the diagnosis and management of DME and nAMD and to improve outcomes for their patients with this disease.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
Discuss the unmet clinical needs for durable, sustained treatment options for patients with nAMD and DME
Explain the rationale for targeting the angiopoietin/Tie2 pathway in the treatment of nAMD and DME
Analyze the efficacy and safety data for novel sustained delivery options of therapies for the treatment of nAMD and DME
Incorporate novel intravitreal treatments with extended treatment intervals into the management plans for patients with nAMD and DME
