Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience
This activity has been designed to address the educational needs of primary care providers (PCPs) (ie, internists, family practitioners, nurse practitioners, and PAs), endocrinologists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, and residents.

Program Overview
It is crucial that all patients with diabetes be screened for diabetic retinopathy. Join Dr Judy Kim as she discusses additional signs that patients with diabetes need an immediate referral to an eye care specialist and provides an overview of vision testing and screening devices.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

Summarize new data that demonstrate the importance of early and proactive DR diagnosis and treatment, to provide the rationale for earlier referral
