Addressing Healthcare Inequities in Cardiac Amyloidosis: Interventions Aimed at Improving Care for All Patients

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience
This educational activity is primarily directed toward cardiologists, heart failure specialists, heart failure nurses, neurologists, echocardiographers, nuclear cardiologists, primary care clinicians, NPs and PAs. Other HCPs involved in the diagnosis and management of ATTR-CM are also invited to participate.

Activity Overview
Addressing Healthcare Inequities is a video-based program in which 3 experts discuss health disparities that negatively impact patients with cardiac amyloidosis. Access to care, insurance costs, and unintended bias are just some of the factors that contribute to the existence and persistence of these disparities. This engaging format is designed to help clinicians better recognize and take steps to address ethnic and racial disparities in cardiac amyloidosis, thereby forwarding progress to improve patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
Identify the barriers contributing to the geographic and racial healthcare disparities in cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR-CM) care
Determine the role of genetic variabilities commonly seen in patients with ATTR-CM
Review strategies facilitating a diagnosis early in the disease course of ATTR-CM across all racial groups
Apply best practices to improve access to quality ATTR-CM care
