Mitigating Disparities in Prostate Cancer Care: Strategies to Promote Equitable Care Across the Continuum

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is designed specifically for oncologists, advanced practice providers, and other members of the healthcare team who serve patients from rural and underserved communities.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Prostate cancer is among the most common cancers in the United States. In rural and underserved areas of the country, patients with prostate cancer often have poor outcomes due to limited access to care, lack of subspecialists, and long travel distances to treatment centers. In this activity, expert faculty will review novel treatment strategies for advanced prostate cancer and evidence-based recommendations for selecting and sequencing therapy. Ways to advance equitable prostate cancer care in rural and underserved communities will also be discussed.
This enduring activity is a recorded session from Oncology Congress that took place on September 24, 2022.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
• Evaluate real-world strategies for overcoming disparities in prostate cancer treatment practices and patient outcomes
• Incorporate evidence-based risk stratification strategies to guide personalized treatment planning for patients with prostate cancer
• Assess the efficacy, safety, and appropriate sequencing of novel treatment options for advanced prostate cancer
• Apply multidisciplinary strategies for overcoming barriers to prostate cancer treatment and follow-up care in rural and underserved settings
