WEBINAR BUNDLE: Mental Health for the Pharmacy Workforce Bundle

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

The Mental Health for the Pharmacy Workforce Bundle, originally presented at the ACA | ACVP | PPHI Annual Conference & Expo, offers an invaluable opportunity for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to earn up to 2 hours of continuing education credits focused on Mental Health. This bundle is designed to address critical issues facing healthcare professionals today, including addiction, depression, burnout, and the overarching need for resilience and self-care in the medical field. Through two engaging webinars, participants will gain insights and practical strategies to enhance both their personal well-being and professional practice.

The first webinar, titled "Long Walk Out of the Woods: A Physician’s Story of Addiction, Depression, Hope and Recovery" led by Adam Hill, MD, delves into the personal and systemic challenges that contribute to mental health issues within the medical workforce. Sponsored by Pharmacists Public Health Initiatives, this session aims to equip participants with the ability to recognize the factors leading to mental health struggles, understand the barriers to seeking help, and implement self-care strategies while advocating for institutional support. The powerful narrative of overcoming stigma and stereotyping in medical conditions serves as a foundation for fostering a more compassionate and supportive healthcare environment.

In the second webinar, "Burnout, Patient Safety, and the Road to Resiliency" by Kristin Jones, PharmD, the focus shifts to the pervasive issue of professional burnout, its implications for patient safety, and the pathways to resilience. Sponsored by Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Company, this presentation emphasizes the importance of recognizing the early signs of burnout, understanding its impact on healthcare delivery, and exploring proactive measures to prevent it. Participants will learn to develop personal practices aimed at enhancing their well-being and resilience, ensuring they can continue to provide the highest level of care to their patients while maintaining their own mental health. Together, these webinars offer a comprehensive approach to addressing mental health in the pharmacy workforce, fostering a culture of wellness and support within the profession.
