Eliminating Diagnostic Delays in Psoriatic Arthritis

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a progressive, erosive, chronic, heterogeneous, systemic inflammatory disease affecting six different clinical domains and presents in up to 30% of patients with psoriasis (PsO). Beyond issues caused with joints and skin, PsA can also lead to fatigue, poor sleep quality, diminished work capacity, physical function limitations, and decreased social participation. Early detection and treatment are critical for improving long-term patient outcomes and minimizing irreversible joint damage. Unfortunately, delays in diagnosis of PsA are common.

The first episode of this CMEOCast podcast series on PsA focuses on recognizing and reducing the impact of delays to diagnosis as well as seizing opportunities to screen patients with PsO for PsA to facilitate a prompt referral and initiation of treatment to optimize outcomes.
