STATEMENT OF NEED Migraine is a type of chronic headache disorder characterized by headaches of a stabbing, pulsatile quality that last between 4 and 72 hours each, often accompanied by symptoms of nausea and sensitivity to light and noise. An estimated 1.04 billion individuals have been diagnosed with migraine worldwide (Negro et al, 2019). Patients report that migraine impacts virtually every aspect of their lives, including personal relationships, reproductive choices, and productivity in work and school (World Health Organization, 2021; Singh et al, 2020). Migraine led to an estimated 41.1 million years lived with disability in 2019; for individuals under 50 years of age, migraine is the number one cause of years lived with disability (Steiner et al, 2020). TARGET AUDIENCE Neurologists, headache specialists, emergency physicians, primary care physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, nurses, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with migraine headache.
