Overview / Abstract: |
Administering medications to animals living in an aquatic environment poses unique challenges compared to their terrestrial counterparts. This talk will review the basic considerations when choosing and administering medication to fish and sharks and identify areas where we lack scientific data to support our medication choices. Medication behavior and its relationship to filtration and other environmental factors such as water pH, temperature, and alkalinity will also be covered. This webinar will hopefully inspire pharmacists to help fill some of these existing data gaps and provide helpful information to assist with consulting on aquatic medical cases. This talk is intended for pharmacists of all levels as well as veterinarians who do not have a strong background in aquatic medicine. The American College of Apothecaries (ACA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. ACA has accredited this program for 1.0 contact hour (0.1 CEUs) of continuing education credit for pharmacists and technicians |
