Overview / Abstract: |
The Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA), enacted in 2013, is approaching its final implementation phase. This 1-hour CE session will review the step-by-step implementation process and provide an important update for 2024 and beyond. By November 27, 2026, pharmacies must comply with FDA enforcement requirements to electronically exchange transaction information and conduct package-level verification. This involves implementing systems for serialized transaction data, ensuring quick access to records, and developing SOPs for regulatory or trading partner requests. While small dispensers have an exemption until November 27, 2026, pharmacies should still focus on making compliant purchases and maintaining accurate inventory records as required by Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) Provider Manuals. PBM audits remain ongoing to verify inventory sourcing, regardless of DSCSA exemptions. Start preparing now to stay compliant with these critical updates. |
