Improving Ocular Surface and Eyelid Health in Today’s Environment

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Ocular surface diseases (OSD) are highly prevalent but frequently underdiagnosed and undertreated disorders of the cornea, conjunctiva, and meibomian glands. The spectrum of OSD includes dry eye disease, blepharitis, and meibomian gland dysfunction. These disorders can significantly affect patients’ quality of life, work, and daily activities, and also contribute to suboptimal outcomes from ocular surgery. As our understanding of the risk factors and underlying mechanisms of these conditions has grown, the therapeutic landscape has rapidly expanded. Education is critical to stay up to date as new diagnostic modalities and management options become available. In this educational activity, faculty will discuss risk factors for OSD, diagnostic modalities, and strategies to promote ocular surface and eyelid health. Experts will also explore current and emerging therapies with the potential to improve management of OSD, and review clinical cases intended to guide therapy selection.
