Overview / Abstract: |
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of bronchiolitis and pneumonia in infants and young children, particularly those under 1 year of age in the United States. While infants born prematurely or with underlying health conditions are at a higher risk for severe RSV illness, the majority of pediatric RSV hospitalizations occur in otherwise healthy infants. Recent advancements in passive immunization, including long-acting monoclonal antibodies and maternal RSV vaccines, introduce critical new prophylactic measures to protect all infants and young children from RSV. This program addresses the significant burden of RSV in the pediatric population and explores comprehensive, interprofessional strategies to integrate new passive immunization options into practice. The program will also feature the engaging and interactive gaming platform, Wheel of Knowledge Challenge, designed to enhance practical knowledge regarding RSV prevention strategies. |
