First Steps Toward Early Diagnosis of MCI or AD
Early diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is critical, as many patients with MCI due to Alzheimer’s disease (AD) will eventually progress to dementia due to AD. It is imperative that diagnosis begins with patient and caregiver interviews when memory or cognitive function changes are noticed, and progress to cognitive testing and blood work to rule out other causes.
